• XC Ski course in Cairngorms in March
• Long weekend in Lakes - finally found Shamrock Traverse on Pillar!
• Steve did his first abseil in Shropshire
• Resigned from BT to join British Antarctic Survey
• 17 days backpacking 120 mile chunk of Pyrenean High Route from Luchon to Pic du Midi.
• Followed by a week hiking through Picos de Europa, Northern Spain.
• 3 days up in Glen Nevis
• 3 days BAS fieldcourse in Derbyshire.
• 10 days at Benbecula doing Met. Observing training and hiking on North and South Uist.
• Departed UK for Antarctica via Rio de Janeiro and South Georgia
• Arrived at my new home of Halley.
